Things to consider.
Know your brand
Your logo will help influence your brand’s perception; it’s therefore, important to understand how you wish your brand to be portrayed. What is your brand personality? Are you friendly or aspirational? Our designers will use this to inform their decisions on brand elements such as colour choice; if you’re looking to have a much more in-depth brand analysis, check-out our brand workshop options.
Some logos are made up of the company name, think Coca-Cola, IBM. This is called logotype and is especially effective as it puts your business name front and centre every time. From a design perspective, it helps when the business name is short and simple. Amazon very cleverly incorporates an arrow between A-Z within their logo, instantly defining their core USP.
Font type & style
Picking a font and style for your logo will have a major impact on your brand’s perception. A classic font, such as Helvetica, is a timeless classic and can be very appealing, or you could decide to go for a bespoke hand-drawn font accompanied by a crazy colour palette. Whatever you choose, it needs to reflect your brand personality.
Colour is such a critical factor in your logo design. We have been conditioned to associate certain colours with certain emotions — red for danger and green for sustainability, are just a couple of examples. Your colour palette is an integral part of your visual identity, included within your brand guidelines.
Keep it simple
When you think about the most memorable designs, in most cases, they are simple ones. APPLE, PEPSI – simple designs, simple colour use – but create lasting impressions. Importantly, your logo needs to be scalable; something that works as well on a billboard advertisement as it does on your business card is crucial.
